Taking time to remember
our loved ones,
the ones who serve our country,
and I don’t know how
those who’ve lost a son
or a daughter
or a husband or a wife
can bear it.
My son graduated from Camp Pendleton, San Diego, three years ago;
I’m so proud to see him
standing tall
but, so apprehensive
about days to come.
Who knows what will be asked
of those who serve, and
of those who love them?
It’s a matter of trust,
and gratitude
for the military,
for our freedom,
for America,
one nation under God.
THANK YOU.
