The very first thing I read this morning is the recipe for a pumpkin cake, which is baking in the oven as I type. Because who doesn’t need a piece of cake with a cup of tea later in the day?
Now I am sitting down, with a fluffy kitty on my lap whom I would have named Gandalf if she wasn’t a girl. She is a Norwegian Forest Cat: grey, fluffy and long haired with a serious attitude. But today she feels like reading with me.
We’re beginning The Keys of The Kingdom by A. J. Cronin for my mother’s book club. The New York Times says it’s, “A magnificent story of the great adventure of individual goodness.”
Just the kind of novel I like to read.
Shall be discussing it later this day…
So glad you're with us, Bellezza! Happy reading.

I have all sorts of things planned for the day, but I'm reconsidering. They can wait until tomorrow, right? I so want to spend a day curled up with a book or two. I'm not one to read dozens in one day.
BTW, my husband and I named one of his first motorcycles Gandolf.
Enjoy your pumpkin cake, tea and book. Happy reading!

I remember seeing this book on my mom's bookshelf. It was one of her favorites, which she recommended to me. Of course, being at that rebellious phase, I never read it, but now I am so curious how you will like this book.

Taking a reading break to say hi to fellow readathoners. Pumpkin cake sounds wonderful. I had planned to make apple crisp for this evening but the apples are still on the counter waiting to be chopped. Sigh.
