Mailbox Monday

This week I found three additions to my Japanese literature library:

*Hotel Iris  sent to me from the Philippines by the ever thoughtful Mark David;

*What I Talk About When I Talk About Running, which completes my collection of Haruki Murakami works;

*A Personal Matter, on loan to my mother after I finished it for the group read on July 30;

a new book entitled Finny which I will review August 30 for TLC Book Tours;

and Suite Francaise which is my last prize from the library’s Summer Reading Program.

Summer sure is sweet, even though the time allocated for pure pleasure reading is winding down…

  1. I have Suite Francaise on my shelves, I need to pick this up soon…and ah, the Philippines. I do miss my cousins and aunts on my mother's side and now you've reminded me to send out an email to catch up! 🙂 it's been about 15 years since last I was there.

  2. Enjoy your new books! I'm glad you have new ones for the wonderful JLC-4!I've been meaning to say that your blog looks beautiful. 🙂

  3. I'm going to try and read A Personal Matter before July 30 as well.And Hotel Iris, what can I say, it has my name in the title.I've heard some good things about Finny so I hope you enjoy it 🙂

  4. I've heard of Hotel Iris and Finny (want to read that second one) and own Suite Francais which is on my TBR.I'm just getting back to reading for reading sake, though I know I'm still going to feel the need to review!

  5. Wonderful collection you have on your mailbox 🙂 I got 'Suite Francaise' sometime back after seeing a reference on it in another book that I read called 'Sarah's Key' by Tatiana de Rosnay (which was also about the holocaust from the French perspective). I will look forward to your review on 'Suite Francaise'. Will also look forward to your review of 'Hotel Iris'. I enjoyed reading it but it was very different from other Ogawa books.

  6. Nice mailbox! And your blog is georgous… it's my first time visiting. Did you take the photo that is in your header? If so WOW. And where is that? Beautiful.. the colors.. your blog is just warm and inviting. Nice job! I am now a brand new follower!

  7. Ah! You survived the weekend! I hope you've forgiven your inner third-grader for taking over the room for a bit!Hot and humid here, and we whine about it too, even though we know this is the way it's 'sposed to be!As for the spammers – I'm convinced Dante had a special circle for them, and we just haven't found that missing bit of manuscript yet 😉

  8. Enjoy the books. I found What I Talk About When I Talk About Running extremely interesting – gave a pretty good insight into the workings of Murakami's brain! Been meaning to read Suite Francaise for a long time, so looking forward to your thoughts on that.

  9. Oh I'm so glad you got the book! I was worried that the magnificent Philippine Postal Service would simply lose the package. Have you started reading it already? 🙂
